{DIY} Dry Erase Board

DIY project inspired by PINTEREST!  This project is SO easy and can be used in so many different ways - grocery lists, calendars, a kid's drawing board, or to-do lists.  My board is used to keep me on task, grocery lists, and a place to jot down quick notes when they pop into my head.

This is the one I saw on Pinterest that inspired me to create my own dry erase board by Little Birdies.
Below is the one I created!  You could use scrapbook paper, leftover scraps of wallpaper, or even wrapping paper.  I used some leftover fabric I had laying around the house.
If you're not feeling crafty, let me make one for you.

{MY HOME} It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

It's our first Christmas in our new home for me and my fiance!  I was anxious to decorate, buy a new tree, and craft Christmas ornaments.  My goal was to keep my Christmas decor fit in seamlessly with my existing decor.  I used the same color palette of my house (blues and grays) with a pop of RED!  Everything has a vintage, hand-made feel to it as well.  I just LOVE how it turned out!

Cheap gift bags from Target turned into Christmas art!
HAND-MADE TREE DECOR:
{styrofoam floral trees and candlestick bases from none other than Goodwill}
1.  Encyclopedia paper
2.  Scraps of fabric
3.  knitting yarn

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!

{MY HOME} Pretty Things

Just something pretty to look at on this cold day!

Beautiful flowers from a fall wedding I attended this past weekend.

I ALWAYS (or try to) have fresh flowers in my home!

Fresh flowers are a STAPLE for when I design someone elses home as well.

{MY HOME} POWDER ROOM

I can't believe I haven't posted anything about my NEW HOME yet!!  Probably because it is still a work in progress until after the wedding (priorities!) but here is a sneak peak of how the powder room is coming along!

You usually don't spend a lot of time in a half bath, so go BOLD!!  This is where you can be creative or try something new.  For me, that was a bold new paint color!

Have you seen these AMAZINGLY modern, cute little yellow flowers?!?  They make me smile! :)  And yes, they WILL make an appearance at my wedding!

Paint:  Marine Blue by Benjamin Moore

{GOODWILL HUNTING}

If you know anything about me, I love "hunting" at Goodwill to see what I can find and turn it into something new and creative! The HUNT of treasures, all the future craft projects, recycle, upcycle, or a decent blazer here and there gets me Goodwill hunting more often than not.  Not so much the smells; lets look past that part!  Let's just say, I know where all the Goodwills are in a 15 mile radius of my house! :)

Have you seen these?
Thousands of pages of craft projects...for only $2.50!  That I can handle! :)
If you're not artistic enough to sketch or paint right on the dictionary pages, you can feed them right through your printer for the same effect.

 Endless possibilities...where should I start?

{DIY} PINTEREST Fall Wreath

All my endless hours on PINTEREST finally paid off!  I actually made something I "pinned." :)  Hopefully this is just the start to many more craft projects inspired by PINTEREST!

Updating a Home {Client Design} Noblesville, IN

This was a very special project for me!  I met Loretta in May just as she was entering into a brand new phase of her life. Ready for a new outlook on life!

Curb appeal can say a lot about a home. So we started this project with a fresh new paint color on the exterior of the house, new gutters, a gorgeous new front door that now matches the style of her home, and some other additional trimmings such as new exterior lighting.  I continued the project inside with the entry way (first impressions are important even for a home) and continued the design into her family room.

The Design Board

The existing natural slate floors were an OBVIOUS jumping off point for colors in my design plan.  Natural and warm  with a POP of color!
I started the makeover with an instant update -- painting the doors and trim white throughout the ENTIRE house!  It was an easy update that made the home feel fresh and modern!
Entry Way

With a love of clean lines, natural materials and warm colors, Loretta couldn’t help but think there was some closeted "Contemporary Arts and Crafts"  in her, but overall, this space and her new lifestyle dictate a more soft-modern vibe.

{Client Design} Jackie Hiatt

Jackie was a typical client--tired of her home and ready for an update.  She was also amazing to work with because she loved ALL of my ideas!  I love easy clients! :)

Jackie's entire color palette came from an existing tray she had.  Each room focused on a different color, but cohesively worked together in the end.
Jackie's Needs:
1.  Stuck in a RUT!  Ready for an update.
2.  Had a great, but outdated dining room and hoped to use it more for family dinners.
3.  Entry way was dark and uninviting.
4. Lighting needed updated.
5.  Had great built in bookcases flanking her fireplace but didn't have a clue of what to do with them.

AFTER - My favorite room of this project!  LOVE the new lighting and color scheme!

Jackie had lots of FABULOUS things in her home already, just didn't know where to start.  So the trick here was to stretch her dollar as far as we could buy repurposing a lot of her existing furniture and accessories into new, modern pieces!  Oh and did I mention my time frame for this project was 10 DAYS!!!

{DIY} Nursery for Baby Clark

A quick and easy Sunday afternoon project for Baby Clark!  Inspired by HGTV Design Star, the abstract tree trunks in coordinating blues make a BOLD statement in this nursery!  I worked with Kelsey Clark on her living room last Spring and was delighted to be able to help design her nursery for her little boy arriving any day now!

Hopefully more photos soon when the room is completed!!!

This is a great idea for any room of the house!!  Any color combination can be used in a project like this depending on how bold or subtle you want to go, or depending on the space.  I think this would look great in a bedroom or even as a "family tree" wall with a photo collage!!

{Client Design} Julie & Ian Molyneux Master Bedroom

My sister Julie, and husband, Ian were lucky enough and brave enough to be my VERY FIRST clients!!  We treated it HGTV style without them knowing ANY of the design choices being made along the way and a final REVEAL at the end!

Design Scheme

Inspiration

Their brand new home (still under construction in this shot) was a blank slate for the design, which I LOVED!
