Quick & Easy DIY Christmas Card Display

Are you Christmas card people?

Do you send Christmas cards?  

Or just like to receive them?

Personally, I love receiving and seeing everyone's Christmas cards.  By December 1st they slowly start to trickle in the mail.  Let's be real, part of it is just the fun of getting something besides junk and bills in the mail, but the best part is seeing all the beautiful faces of the people I love most in my life!

As most of you will just hang your cards on the refrigerator, which is totally fine, I like to display them in a more fun, interesting way.  A place to really appreciate them more than just on my trips to the fridge!

This year I found a really easy way to display all of those Christmas cards.  It took no time at all and only cost a couple of bucks!  

This is what I started with.  A canvas wrapped artwork which is normally hanging in my bathroom.  It measures about 2 feet wide by 4 feet tall.  You will definitely need something big enough for lots of Christmas cards.  Or you could do the same with multiple canvas squares all hung together.

All I did here was attach my wrapping paper from Home Goods to the canvas artwork.  Luckily, some how, my wrapping paper was the exact same width as my artwork.  So I just had to cut it to the right height.  Leave a couple of inches at the top and bottom to wrap around and secure to the canvas frame.  Initially, I was going to staple the paper to the canvas frame, but once I tried a little tape and the paper stayed securely, I kept going with the tape.  

I used the same wrapping paper as I used to wrap gifts for a cohesive look.

This is what is looks like wrapped in paper and hung!  I even like it as is!

How should I attach the cards to the paper?!?  Washi tape!  I had this gold glitter washi tape that I had bought a while back.  It is perfect for this project.  I just cut two pieces at 2" each for the two corners of each card.  And wha-la!!

I love having these cards displayed in a more special way now.  They are in a central location to see all of these smiling faces of my beautiful friends and family.  And let's face it -- we all spend a lot of time deciding on which card design to choose.  There are so many gorgeous Christmas cards now.  So I love that they are really displayed like a piece of art!! 

Why Should Mantles Have All the Fun?!?

December has flown by!!  I knew it would, but I can't believe Christmas is this week already!  I always have this long list of things to do during December it seems -- shopping, wrapping gifts, decorating, work, blog posts, baking, entertaining, shopping, wrapping!  :)

So I am crossing a few things off my list!  Not because I finished them, but  because I am not going to finish them!  I think my sanity is a little more important than a DIY wreath tutorial post that I didn't get to!!  Thanks for understanding!

But maybe I can get a few more Christmas posts out....before Christmas.............

I don't know about you, but I don't have a mantle.  Or a fireplace for that matter!  So, during the holidays, especially for Christmas, I kind of treat my entry way table as my "mantle" because you can style it in kind of the same way!

I start with something tall in the middle -- for me it's a tall antique, gold mirror from the den.  Then I layer in a table runner, an artificial garland of greenery, add in some pine cones and some Christmas decor.

2014 Christmas Home Tour {Part 2}

It's amazing what a little sunshine can do.  There was finally some sunshine here in Indiana after about a week of gray skies and rain.  So I ran for my camera and starting snapping more Christmas photos.

My dining room isn't huge.  Really it is just a extension of my living room because it is all one big space.  We eat all of our meals here, it is occasionally my work space, my craft space, and now my wrapping station during the holidays.  So it does get used a lot!  My favorite part of my dining room is definitely the buffet table I refurbished a few years back.  It is also one of my favorite areas to decorate for the holidays because it is such a focal point of the space!

I love how the neutral Christmas decor pops off the bright, cheery yellow antique buffet table!

A great tip is to use your everyday items in new ways with your Christmas decor.  Here, I used my West Elm white honeycomb vase with my Christmas decor and just filled it with some artificial greenery and some fresh magnolia leaves.

My chalkboard (made from an old window) gets moved around the house.  I love it leaned against the wall here, with a simple wreath hanging on it with just some simple ribbon.  It is the same ribbon I used to decorate my Christmas tree, so that all the decor is coordinating.

That's my dining room!  There is more to show in my home soon.  You know every room needs a little touch of Christmas throughout......
