{still enjoying my Green BEAN Delivery}

Friday evening was spent outside with my husband.  This is seriously our favorite thing to do in the summer.  We each grab our favorite drink and sit outside and just enjoy the peace and quiet.  This is usually our favorite time to catch up on what we each did that week and talk about our hopes and dreams for the future!  Saturday we started our morning walking to our local Farmer's Market in Carmel.  We usually don't buy anything, especially since I just received that huge Green BEAN Delivery last week.  It's just a great Saturday morning walk for us.  We usually end up having our breakfast there.  They have so many things available to eat and enjoy there.  We chose the fresh smoothie bar this time.  The Walking Waffles are also a favorite of ours.  They have everything from scrambled egg bars to breakfast brats and crepes.  So we typically pick up some breakfast.....walk around and see what's new......and sit and enjoy some folk music before walking home.  I spent the rest of the afternoon catching up on a few DIY projects.  We ended the evening at Scotty's Brewhouse in Carmel watching the Pacer's game.  They lost!  :(  But I think this will be a new favorite restaurant and hang-out for us this summer.  It is walking distance from our home.  Just a quick walk down the Monon Trail and we are there!  Sunday we sat at my sister's pool for a couple of hours before her Memorial Day cookout!  It felt amazing to be sitting outside, poolside, soaking up the rays for the first time this summer!!  Monday was just another relaxing day at home before we're back to work today!

I decided to make a new wreath for my front door too!  I was feeling very patriotic this weekend!  I think it will get good use for Memorial Day, 4th of July, and Labor Day!  Here's a little step-by-step of making the wreath:

Just a few little tips on the wreath if you are trying to re-create......I decided to go with the straw ring from Michael's versus a standard styrofoam floral wreath that I would usually use because I found that they are half the price.  And they work just the same.  You will see in the pictures above, the original plan was to just wrap the entire straw with the ribbon.  But I got about 3/4 of the way around and ran out of ribbon.  So I wrapped the wreath in a burlap ribbon first and then wrapped it with the stars ribbon, leaving some space to see the burlap and to allow the stars ribbon to make it all the way around.  I used hot glue to secure the ribbons, the fabric flowers, and the tin star.

I've been really crafty lately......I have another simple, summer DIY for you tomorrow!
