Just a quick fabric switcheroo for my new office chair.

This was a cheap, rickety old chair that no one wanted at a yard sale.  So after some quick paint touch-ups and changing out the fabric with some scrap black and white chevron fabric that I already had laying around, I now have a new office chair!

Here's a little project I finished up today!

As some of you may or may not know, I currently started a new business venture.
Refurbish & Refinish!  Along with my business partner, we seek out antiques and vintage items and refurbish them to new modern pieces for your home!

This is the chair as I found it!  Not in great condition.  :(

Green or navy, green or navy?  That is the question!  Once I had this Ikat fabric that I LOVED, I finally decided on navy paint for the chair by popular demand.

 

The chair's seat needed a little extra cushion.  So I first added two layers of batting with a couple of staples, before wrapping the seats with the fabric. 

After lots of stapling, all four cushions are done!

Glamour Meets Spa Retreat Master Bedroom

When a past client contacted me to design her Master Bedroom, I jumped on the opportunity and couldn't wait to get started.  I updated her home a couple of years ago, which you can see here.  She was ready to update her "stuck in the 80's" bedroom to a restful, spa-like glamorous master bedroom.  She was looking for an overall feeling of peace and calm, with comfort and simplicity.

I can't believe I don't have BEFORE pictures!  Ugh!  I always take before pictures and this was quite the transformation, but I guess I was so excited to get my hands on this room, it slipped my mind. 

Before...the bed was placed where the dresser is now and the client's dresser at the time was where the bed is now.  So we swapped the furniture layout to make a clear path to the bathroom and to open up the space.  It feels so much bigger when you aren't walking into a bed as soon as you walk into the room!

There was absolutely no light in the space except for one window.  No overhead lighting, meant dark and dreary!  So I had 3 new can lights installed in the ceiling -- one over the bed, one over the dresser, and one over the media cabinet.  And they are all on a dimmer for night time reading or movie watching.

I took away a lot of the client's storage for a more simplistic, clean look for the room.  So I had to add some of it back.  This side table from Hayneedle.com was the perfect size with just the right amount of storage for all of her books.  I also added storage baskets from Home Goods at the bottom to hide even more books!

On the left side of the bed, there wasn't as much space for a large night stand.  And since I was going for a contemporary, stream-lined look, I opted for these amazing acrylic nesting tables from Wayfair.com.  They don't take up a lot of space, and they add to the repeating glamorous crystal look throughout the space.  I have been wanting to use these somewhere for a long time!! I LOVE NESTING TABLES!

 

Here are my go-to Goodwill books again!  By now, I use them in every room of the house.   The pottery is Nate Berkus collection from Target! LOVE!  And the faux plants were bought separately from Hobby Lobby.  A succulent and a little pop of color! 

There really wasn't a lot of styling in this master bedroom--no shelves to decorate, not a lot of table tops to dress, so I wanted to have grand artwork that would stand out in the room.  So just one large piece of artwork from Home Goods, of course, was all this wall needed.

Over the bed though, I thought we needed a little more sparkle and a grouping of artwork to compete with the scale of this large king size bed.  

 

DIY PROJECT!

I opted for these beautiful mirrored frames from Target (been wanting to use these for a while too!) and a FREE downloadable botanical artwork.  I found these from a super cute website called POPPYTALK.  

The botanical download can be found here.  There were 6 prints available to download.  I decided on the 3 with the least amount of color.  I just downloaded, printed on my computer with a heavy card stock paper, and fresh ink in the printer to get affordable artwork that looks amazing!  This may be my favorite part of the room. 

The dresser was simply decorated with more books from Goodwill flanked by these amazing onyx bookends in my exact color palette from Home Goods.  More Nate Berkus pottery, tall blue vase from Target as well, and of course a little plant from Ikea (my favorite accessory).

This client LOVES jewelry, so some extra special jewelry storage was in need!  This one from Kohls.com is great for storage and displaying all those family photos. 

 

The paint color is a soothing blue in Sherwin William's Quietude. This was picked to coordinate with the bathroom paint SW Sea Salt. Both beautiful colors for any room of your house. I have SW Sea Salt in my living room.

A lot of people ask me "What do I do with this hideous vent on the wall?"  Let's face it.  It's an eye sore.  Most of them are white, so they stick out like a sore thumb.  PAINT IT!  Go ahead and paint it to match your wall color and you won't even notice it there anymore.  

So there it is...in all its glory!  I hope my client has many rainy days reading in bed and restful nights in her relaxing master bedroom!

Coral + Gray Master Bedroom {My Home}

It's not very often that I post pictures of my home.  

#1 - because I usually don't have the time to focus on decorating my own home or

#2 - because I feel like my house is never really finished.  I am constantly changing things or adding things in my home.  Good design is never complete!

When I started designing my master bedroom, I first looked at color combinations.  I knew I wanted to keep the room very simple with just two main colors.  I was loving coral at the time (which I still love) so I went with that as my main color.  Gray goes with everything so I picked that as my second color.  The room has such tall ceilings, I really wanted a dark color on the walls to make the room feel a bit cozier.  Dark gray walls around the entire room is exactly what we did!  It also made the room feel a bit more manly with the bright coral (which made my husband happy).  Now, gray can get tricky...some grays have a blue tint to them, some can have a muddy brown tint, some can have a green tint.  This was the PERFECT gray!  It is just GRAY!  A perfect stone, charcoal hue gray.  I would use this again and again! 

The bed was purchased at Kittle's.  I really wanted something bulky, with a tall headboard to fit the scale of the tall ceilings.  My husband LOVED this one.  Wouldn't be my first pick, but that's the compromise of marriage!  It's grown on me.  I think it looks great in the space and it has drawers in the bottom = BONUS!  What girl doesn't need extra storage for all her clothes!

Everyone needs "Love Rules"

After purchasing our home 2 years ago, I thought it was about time to do something with our master bedroom.  It's the last room in our house that hasn't been painted or decorated in some way!  And...since it is my one year wedding anniversary this month, I thought there was no better gift to both my husband and myself, than a new master bedroom!

Our space is now masculine and modern with the crisp gray and white color palette, but girly enough for me with the fun, bright pops of coral!!

BEFORE & AFTER {Nursery}

My beautiful niece has arrived!  And she is loving her new nursery her mom and I, along with some help from friends and family, have put together for her.

I wanted baby Emersyn to be able to enjoy her room for years to come.  So, instead of doing a typical "baby" nursery, I opted for a beautiful space filled with fun color and pattern that a little girl at any age would enjoy.  In fact, I pretty much hate nurseries that are so-called "theme" with all of the matching bedding and set items from a big box store.  It doesn't take a lot of money to create a more sophisticated nursery, just a little more creativity.

Custom built-in bookshelves were added for architectural detail.

From there, we layered in the pattern, the color, and all of the handmade DIY projects for a personal touch to create the most adorable little girl's nursery.

A gallery wall with room to grow is perfect for capturing all of your child's best moments.  For now, we filled the frames with coordinating scrapbook paper and some playful artwork from Etsy until my sister has photos of the new baby.

Every little girls needs a little sparkle in their bedroom, and these petite starburst mirrors were the perfect touch. 

Some of our DIY projects included:
Wall Art -- We "framed" colorful fabric swatches and fabric napkins from West Elm with wood cross stitch rings to create easy and whimsical wall art.
String Monogram -- Cardboard letters can be found at any craft store, so we bought an oversized "E" and wrapped the entire thing with bright coral yarn from the knitting department to add a personalized touch to the space.
Crib Skirt -- These can be so hard to find and if you can find a cute one, they are so expensive.  So we found a cute pink patterned twin bed sheet and cut it to fit as a bed skirt.  A couple of stitches later, we had an adorable nursery bed skirt.

Bookshelves are one of the most challenging things for people to decorate.  We kept these shelves simple and organized because of the busy, graphic wallpaper.  I still chose a lot of playful, child-like objects for the shelves, but organized them in a sophisticated way with a mix of materials.  Such as a stuffed animal monkey sitting next to a beautiful framed phots.  We added lots of pops of color in our accent colors with books from thrift stores.  It's all about the details.

........and my favorite accessory.......my new niece, just hanging out on the shelf (with momma's super vision just below of course!).
