{Holiday Decorating} Day 7: How to Decorate an Entryway

I LOVE having an entryway with a table to decorate, especially during the holidays!  I went over the top yet understated with the table this year.  I removed everything from the table and completely started over.

This is a great tip when decorating an area like this.  Take everything off the table, lay everything out on the floor of the items you might use, and just grab and go from there.

But before we can see the entryway, here's the front of my house!

Just lots of fresh greenery!

A mixture of fresh winter greens in my front porch pots and a fresh boxwood wreath with a simple red ribbon makes a simple, welcoming entrance!

Come on in!

Another Upholstery Jute Webbing banner! See how I made this, here!

Here's a breakdown of where I have sourced all of my items for my entryway table.

So, as you can see, everything I decorated my entryway with I already had.  By using things from another room in a new way, it brings new life to the item!  It makes what you already have new and exciting again!  I love that I have bookcases that I can store random things in.  It is a great storing ground for miscellaneous items.

The design of the entryway table all started with the mirror.  From there, pieces were layered in.

I bought this mirror as is about a year ago from a consignment store.  I didn't know where I would put it at the time, just knew I HAD to have it.  It currently hangs in the den when not sitting above the entryway table.

See how the transformation came together, layer by layer!

When decorating any kind of table it is all about the layers!  I layered two table runners with some artificial greenery on top of that.  In with the mirror and accessories!

Another artificial tree from Ikea!  I wrapped the base of this one in a scrap piece of burlap and tied it all up with red ribbon!

You can find this free Chalkboard printable from a fellow Hoosier of mine Hoosier Homemade or others on my holiday Pinterest board.

I made this tree last Christmas.  It is just a floral styrofoam tree hot glued to a glass candle stick from the dollar store.  I then wrapped the entire tree in yarn to get this pretty vintage Christmas tree!

Sleigh bells ring...

Christmas decorating doesn't have to be expensive.  I am all about getting that high end look on a budget.  Most of the items I use around my house for decoration, vases, suitcases, books, mirrors, have all come from thrift stores, consignment stores, or antique malls.  You have to know where to spend your money.  And during the holidays, pull items from around the house to create an extra special space!

We've made it over half way through my home tour and 12 Days of Decorating!  I think you have basically seen my entire home now!  It's not the biggest house, just a starter home for now, but you don't have to have the biggest house on the block to create a beautiful home on the inside!  I have a lot more decorating you are going to want to see though!  Coming up, I have two very special home tours that aren't of my home!

13 more days until Christmas!
