Today on TREND SPOTTING, I am talking about my new favorite color combination
Navy & Gold is one of my favorite color combinations trending right now. With the rising trend of brass and gold metals, it is easy to get confused with what to pair the gold with. Navy is the easiest and best choice! The darkness and richness of the navy compliments the brightness of the gold. That is why the two work seamlessly together.
Here are some examples of how the powerful duo work together in Home Decor...

You can use NAVY in a bold way by painting your walls navy and using gold tones as your accent.
Sarah Richardson Design |
As always, Sarah Richardson Design nailed it in this Dining Room Design. She used a navy grasscloth above the handrail and a bold teal below. If you are scared of making the gold move, start with brass. It is not as scary as gold may be to you. This honed, aged brass is a more subdued way to get the gold and navy trend in your home as Sarah did in this dining room. And it works with navy perfectly, just as gold does.

Here the navy and gold is a little more restrained by just using it in small accents like a mirror. Paired with some beautiful navy drapes.

In this beautiful bedroom, navy makes a bold statement in the upholstered headboard. With more subtle gold tones in the pillows and accents.

This soft and bright bedroom is mostly gray. But at second look, you can see navy in the fabrics -- pillows, upholstered chairs, and drapes. And of course those subtle aged gold accents with the mirrors and sconces! Love!

If you are really daring...use navy tile in the bathroom like these gorgeous striped tiles on the wall. They kept everything else white and bright to keep the navy tiles the main focus. A gold, thin framed mirror is the perfect touch to all the navy.

If you are still warming up to the idea of gold and navy, here they added the color combination in a small area. Just small accents in the bookshelves. Mixed with mainly white accessories, the gold and navy really stand out.

A gold Starburst mirror for only $35 would really stand out on a navy painted accent wall.

Looking for an easy DIY project? Paint an old set of deer antlers in the navy and gold combination. This would be a stand-out accessory in bookshelves or on a stack of books on your entryway table.

If you feel like splurging, around $1000 to be exact, this rug is amazing in this gold color.

For $430, you can have a pair of these Paris Bistro Chairs to add navy and gold tones to your kitchen.

Here, a navy wall gets an unexpected update with gold polka dot wall decals.
This gives me an idea for my navy Powder Bathroom! {see how it looks now here}

The House of Smiths added these wall decals to the bottom half of one wall.

I'm loving these wall decals! Here they added them to one small wall in the toilet room for an unexpected surprise and a touch of elegance behind the toilet! How fun is this?!?
via All Things Thrifty |
I also love the idea of putting these decals on the ceiling -- maybe in a closet, in a bedroom, in a bathroom?!? The ceiling is the "fifth" wall that most people forget about. So why not liven it up with a little gold!
The best part of these wall decals, they are removable! So as soon as your are tired of this trend or you just change your mind, they can be ripped off!
If design and decorating isn't your thing, you can also bring this trend into your everyday fashion!

Gold and Navy is definitely a trend that is going to be around for a while, so don't be scared to try it or to splurge a little to bring this look into your home. There are tons of ways you can accomplish this look. Paint an old dresser navy and add gold hardware to the drawers. A white table lamp with a gold lamp shade. Go big or go small. Either way, this classic duo is a strong, traditional look!
Love the new Trend Spotting!! Looks GREAT!!
