Trend Spotting...PHONE CASES

This past weekend, my life was UPGRADED!  With a new phone thanks to my hubby!  My old phone was s...l...o...w!  Would kick me out of screens or websites for no reason.  Could barely stay charged for an entire day.  So he graciously let me use his upgrade (mine is not for another 6 months) and I GOT A BRAND NEW PHONE!  I'm pretty excited!  Now that I am blogging more and have my own business, I am on my phone more, taking more pictures, etc.  The camera on this thing is SO much better!  I am amazed!

So, today for Trend Spotting, I am talking about the trends in phone cases!  The styles, the colors, the endless options!  I have been searching the web for days now trying to decide what phone case to buy.  I need one right away before I drop this thing.  It is so much lighter in weight, I am afraid it is going to just slip right out of my hand one of these days!

I don't know if it is just me, but this is a decision I take very seriously!  Serious problems here I know!! :)  Here are my concerns when choosing the perfect Phone Case...

1.  I don't want it to be a waste of money if I receive the phone case and I don't like it, or it is just so cheap it breaks after a month.  Been there, done that!

2.  I want it to actually protect the phone.  I know there are some really cute phone cases out there, but  if  when I drop this thing, I want it to be protected.

3.  I don't want the cover to be SO overly "protective" that it is now hideous to look at!

4.  All of the buttons -- power, volume, camera, have to be visible! duh! I hate when I order a phone case and it messes up the look of a picture because it covers half the camera lens or I can't change the volume on the side because the case covers the buttons!

5.  I would love to find something that also holds business cards or credit cards.  Frequently, I am caught off guard with clients asking for my business card and I only have my phone with me at the time.  So, ideally something that can solve that problem!

I know this is asking a lot, but there really are a lot of choices out there.  It is a hard decision to make!  As you can see, I have put a lot of thought into this!

Here are some of my favorites that I have found even if they don't all fit my "criteria."

(from left to right, top to bottom)
1.  Pony Hair Phone Case $15.00
2. Geometric iPhone Case in Wood Tones and Pink $19.99
3.  Wood Print Geometric iPhone Case Aztec Print $22.00
4.  Rita iPhone 5 Case $98.00
5.  Aztec iPhone Case Mint, Pink and Wood Tones $11.26
6.  Mint Leatherette Waller Phone Case $19.99
7.   EYN All-In-One Wallet/iPhone Case $29.95
8.  Otterbox Commuter Series Wallet Case $34.95
9.  Anchor iPhone Case $6.99
10.  Black White and Gold Personalized iPhone Case $44.00

I guess it is hard for me to choose just one phone case because my favorite color changes monthly and my style changes from season-to-season.  I want it to fit my personality!  I don't want to buy a new phone cover every couple of months, but every time I see a new trendy phone cover, the urge to buy it, overwhelms me.

The solution...

I bought this clear phone case!  My goal is to be able to create my own case artwork when my mood or style or season changes.

After all, my husband did pick out the gold phone knowing that I would love it!  So I hate to immediately cover it up with a phone case. This option gives me the flexibility to leave the clear case to showcase the gold phone, or to create my own artwork for the phone like this girl did with washi tape....

What a great idea!  I can't wait to try this!!

But I was still dying to try one of these wallet phone cases for my business cards.  So I purchased this one as well...

My order came in the mail today and I LOVE both of them!  Here's how they look.

The clear case.  I chose the "champagne" border color to match my phone.

Here's what it looks like with scrapbook paper and washi tape art!  I did this really fast for this blog just to see what it would look like, but it was so easy!  I am excited to make more.  Here I just used scrapbook paper, traced my phone on the paper to know where to cut.  Put a strip of gold sparkle washi tape down the side and wrote my name on it for a personalized look.

I am really excited about this one too.  It looks like great quality, fits my business cards perfectly, and still easy to use the phone at the same time!

Let's just say I tend to over analyze things a bit, but that keeps me money savvy!!

  1. I love that a phone case is something you take so seriously. Honestly I totally get it but its sort hysterical all at the same time. I get super passionate about really "silly" things to other people so I LOOOOVE this about you! Also I need to see your wallet version when we see eau other next. I'm interested in that one!

    1. Haha! I know I am crazy! You would think I am buying a new car or something!! But my thing is, I like to buy one nice phone case and it will last for 2 years until my next upgrade! Yes, I will show you. I am really liking it. It's not as bulky as I thought it would be. So I really like it!

  2. I like the phone case and wallet combo, but I love the clear case. I need that one because then I could insert my artwork in there. I looked into sellig phone cases with my artwork on it but I feel like they'd have to be too expensive or too cheaply made. I like this option better!

    1. Eva, I love the idea of your artwork for phone cases. I think it would be awesome to just sell your artwork on cardboard sheets that are pre-cut to fit as an insert for a case like this! I would totally buy it! I'll take the first "test" one to try it out!! :)
