High vs. Low {Metal Drum Table}

I love finding a good deal!  That's the whole point of "inspired high end design at an affordable budget."

I have lots of projects I am currently working on, which means lots of shopping!  I found this little end table at Home Goods this week and knew I had to buy it for one of my clients.  I wasn't sure exactly where or what I would do with it.  But I loved it, and decided to scoop it up before it was gone!  If you find a good deal or something you just love at Home Goods, it's smart to just buy it and decide once you get it home or it will be gone the next time you are at Home Goods.  You can always return it.

Home Goods Metal Drum Table - $50

Later in the week I was shopping around on Overstock.com, after I had already purchased the above table from Home Goods, and found a very similar table with a much bigger price tag!!  Seeing this comparison and the deal I scored, makes me very happy!!!  :)  Hopefully my client agrees!

Overstock Hammered Drum Cross Dark Bronze Table/Stool - $284

I don't think I am going to use it as an end table for my client.  I am thinking to actually set it in a corner with a larger plant on it fill a void in the corner of her living room.

I am so happy that I decided to pick up this little metal table and can't wait to see what it will look like in my client's space!  Would you put this table in your home?

World Market vs. Restoration Hardware Lighting

Do you love Restoration Hardware as much as I do.....but can't necessarily afford to buy everything in their stores like we would all like to do?!?  I will admit, I think some of their items and furniture are great prices because of what you are getting -- amazing quality and one of a kind pieces.

But for other items, if you can find something similar for hundreds less, I might just go for the one that is hundreds less....after all, it is all about attaining that high-end style at an affordable budget!

Lighting is like the jewelry of an outfit....someone once said.  It takes it to the next level.  Gives it that glam and sparkle every room (outfit) needs.  It completes a space.  Lighting is SO important to a space, and the design and style of lighting is even more important.  It can make a room a completely different space just by changing the light fixture.

I am sharing some of my favorites from Restoration Hardware today.....but showing you a copy cat version, for much, much less from World Market!

Obviously, there are additional details and quality and grandeur that comes along with the Restoration Hardware lighting and their higher pricing.  We are definitely not comparing apples to apples here.  But if you LOVE RH lighting like I do, and don't have a huge budget for their lighting, WM is definitely a great alternative until you can save up for the real thing!

All of these lights were hand picked and put together by me.  This is a collection of some of my favorite lighting from World Market and Restoration Hardware.  I made sure to compare lighting with the closest dimensions for most accurate price comparisons.  All links to purchase lighting are included.

There you have it!  Another great way to save on lighting.  By saving hundreds of dollars on lighting, you will definitely be comprising some quality and details of the more expensive choice.  So just know what you are getting, read reviews, and understand that you get what you pay for.  Check out some other High vs. Low posts including Restoration Hardware HERE.

Have a great weekend and stay warm!!

High or Low?

HAPPY FRIDAY!!

I have been doing some major shopping for a client recently!  All of the furnishings and decorating for a Living Room, Master Bedroom, Master Bathroom, Dining Room, Guest Bedroom, and Guest Bath to be exact.  This is a new construction home that is in need of all new furnishings.  So when you are buying this many pieces at one time, it is really crucial to find some good deals and to shop around for the best prices!

Can you guess which one is HIGH and which one is LOW??

Well technically they are the same, exact piece of furniture, just different finish and color!  Same manufacturer, just sold by two different companies, at two totally different prices!

HIGH

Kittle's

This is the Jofran Dining Room Eli Media Unit from Kittle's Furniture.  I saw this in the store and fell in love with the reclaimed wood look of the cabinet.  It was the perfect size and perfect piece that I was looking for as my client's TV media cabinet.  Only problem was, at $635, it was slightly over our $500 budget for a media cabinet.

LOW

Decor South

This is the Urban Lodge Brown 60" Console from Decor South sold online.  After loving the other one so much, I searched for the same piece online and came across this one!  It is the exact same manufacturer, exact same piece, same size and everything!  The only difference, this one only came in the darker brown finish versus the gray finish like the other one.  But the dark brown actually works better for us in my clients space.  And this one sells for only $519 with FREE shipping!  That is a savings of a side table or an extra piece of artwork on the walls!!

It really helped my decision that I was able to see this piece of furniture in store at Kittle's before buying it online.  I could open the drawers, look at the quality, and be sure this is definitely the one to order.

It just goes to show that it helps to shop around to really stay on budget without having to compromise high quality and high end design.  I always Google large furniture items to see who else makes the same piece at a lower price!

Here is a sneak peak of what my client's living room will look like with this media cabinet!

Just a couple of more weeks now until final closing and move-in day!  And then I get to move in all of the pretty stuff I have been buying for them!!  (And then of course show all of you the after photos!)

This is where we are in the building stage right now.......
