Shiplap is back!!!!
I have missed Chip & Joanna's now famous shiplap wall treatment the last couple of episodes. But it is back this week! Shiplap has been around for decades, but I think these two are definitely making it a comeback.
What is Shiplap????
There is so much goodness in this one house to talk about! The lighting, the furniture, the shiplap...another job, really well done!!! It makes me crazy happy that Jo chose to use Amazing Gray from Sherwin Williams for the paint on the walls throughout most of the home. It is one of my favorite go-to paint colors!
The appeal of this room definitely starts with the coffee table and leads your eye straight up to that lantern chandelier. The chandelier may seem oversized, but with its open, airiness, it doesn't feel too big for the space. You can find a similar style at one of my favorite sources for lighting --
Shades of Light. The chandelier shown is from Joanna's store
Magnolia Market. The bucket to the left of the sofa is actually a vintage olive bucket and seems to be a new trendy item I've been noticing popping up in home decor. They are a fun, unique alternative to holding additional blankets in the family room or I think it would look really neat with a large
Fiddle Leaf Fig tree in it. Depending on your budget, you can find a similar coffee table at
Restoration Hardware and
World Market. The plants Jo used were probably real -- just a guess, but if you want to get a similar look, you could incorporate these
faux potted fig trees.
Lighting can make the biggest
difference in a space, but can also be one of the hardest things to shop for.
It is challenging to find really neat, unique lighting. On her blog, Joanna explained that they made these new lights "look old." These can be found
in her shop. Shades of Light also offers lots of similar options. These are two of my favorites from Shades of Light. Don't be afraid to go bold with your lighting!!
These 3-tiered stands you see in the middle of the island are all the rage right now. I've seen them at Hobby Lobby, At Home (Garden Ridge), Pottery Barn, Home Goods, and Ballard Designs, and the Painted Fox. (Painted Fox is an online retailer offering lots of farmhouse decor) They can be used for entertaining or storing everyday fruits and veggies, or even on the bathroom countertop for everyday beauty products.
These are just some of the awesome tiered trays the
Painted Fox offers online!
The gorgeousness of this home continued into the Master Bedroom. I love a simply made bed in white linens and a textured duvet cover and pillow shams for added interest and texture. This is perfection!
This gray textured top cover looks exactly like the quilt I found at
Anthropologie.
You can also find a similar duvet cover/comforter at
West Elm at a lower price.
Chip and Joanna have never done a remodel that I
haven't liked! They are both such an inspiration and I love seeing their remodels every week!! Find all of the details and more pictures from
The Overgrown Ranch on Magnolia Homes blog.
This was my very favorite house they have done. I was smitten with nearly every last detail! I almost fainted over the brick walls in kitchen. When we custom build one day its an absolute must for me to have stone or brick in my kitchen so this was a total winner for me! :-) Also our shiplap shirts came today and they are to die for soft!! LOVE. (Could I be more obsessed with jo & chip??)
ReplyDeleteDidn't you say last week's was your favorite?!?! HAHA! I do the same thing...each new week is my new favorite! Loved the brick! It looks like it has always been there but they actually added it! I can't wait to see that shirt. I want one now!! Gram it, please!! :) (sorry for all the exclamations. you know jo & chip get me excited too)
DeleteCan you tell me where the rug in the first photo is from? Love it!!!
ReplyDeleteNice! Industrial caged pendant with rivets given a unique look to the kitchen which seems more elegant.
ReplyDeleteAre the living room walls, the shiplap, painted white or gray? What shade, if you know... Thanks!
ReplyDeletePenny - they are definitely white which is most common for shiplap. I don't know this exact color but Snowbound by Sherwin Williams is my absolute favorite white paint. Thanks for stopping by and commenting!!
DeleteThanks so much!! I have some wood paneling walls that I am wanting to paint despite my husband's sad looks! I couldn't decide between a pale gray/green or white.
DeleteAny of those colors sound wonderful. I would go with a classic white.

ReplyDeleteI’m ready to work on my next project, its shiplap wall in the guest bedroom! I’m bit excited and I want to satisfy the client. So I will do my best with lots of creative ideas and ended up successfully.

Painting can be a quick and cheap way to give an old room a breath of fresh air. If you’re in an idea of selling your house, it’s good to select white or off-white colour for walls. Because it will allow the buyer to easily cover the wall with their choice of color and will give your house a brighter and clean appearance.
