Kitchen Backsplash Install: Day 1

It's been a LONG winter here in Indiana, but March has FINALLY arrived!  I hope that means warm weather on the horizon as well!  I hope...

Well, if you remember from this post, I have been dreaming of installing a tile backsplash in my kitchen for a while now.  A few weeks ago, I finally bit the bullet and went out and chose a tile for the project, hired a contractor, and through this long winter I have had an exciting home project for myself to look forward to!  WARNING:  THIS IS NOT A DIY PROJECT OR A HOW-TO POST!!

This is the tile we chose and an idea of what our kitchen will look like all together with the other finishes...

Getting My Dream Kitchen

WELL TODAY IS THE DAY!  THE INSTALL OF MY KITCHEN BACKSPLASH HAS STARTED!!  I woke up so giddy and excited today.  I could barely sleep last night!  I just couldn't wait to see what it was going to actually look like on our walls, in our kitchen!

This is our kitchen before...

(ignore the crockpot....just cookin' up some dinner!  Don't worry this was gone by the time my contractor started installing the tile!!)

This is what our kitchen looks like at the end of day 1...

No grout at this point......that's for tomorrow.

To watch my contractor install this seamlessly, without any questions....I am SO happy my husband and I didn't try to install this ourselves.  It definitely wouldn't look like this after just 7 hours!  And I learned today, that you can't even rent a saw from hardware stores or tool rental facilities to cut glass tile like this because the cheap blades they provide you with would just break every piece of glass!  So, again, very happy we decided not to go that route!!

A couple of hours of grouting left for tomorrow and then this project can be checked off the list!!
